The Stomping Makes the Romping Fun!
I’m all about ass-kicking chicks, which is why I sit on the side of Team Stomp.
I need my heroines to face an uphill battle that challenges them, changes them, and helps them grow. But more than all that, I need them to stand at the front lines, raise a sword and attack the villain head on.
STOMPING drives the plot forward in the best kinds of ways. In ways the romping never can. Sure, relationships help us grow and change us, but not more than adversity. Only when we face external struggles, evil, pain, do we become the ultimate versions of ourselves. A heroine who sits on the sidelines (or the bedroom) can never become that woman. The woman who we all aspire to be.
Now all that being said, here’s my checklist for a good book: Badass chick (or chick who becomes badass), a compelling villain, an awesome world, an intriguing mystery and then…a good helping of tension filled romance.
What???? Yes, I can admit it: I want some romp in my stomp!
As both a writer and a reader, I LOVE a good dose of romping to break up all the stomping. Maybe there should be a team ‘STROMP’ because my books (and the ones I like to read) lie somewhere in the middle.
So why am I on Team Stomp if I like the Romp? Because ultimately it comes down to what I can live without. I can read a book that’s all Stomp, or even half Stomp/half Romp, but a book that’s all romp and no stomp? Forget about it.
There’s nothing better than creating a kick-butt heroine who can show her softer side too—or maybe her nasty side? Either way, I want tension! Not just ‘we might die any moment’ tension, but also the ‘gut-wrenching, butterfly-inducing, stomach-clenching’ moments of tension that cause my dark little heart to pitter-patter.
Does that require sex? No, not in my opinion at least. You can have crazy romantic tension without ever reaching the bedroom. HOWEVER, does that mean I don’t want some sexy-sexy time in my books or in the books I read? Absolutely not. I love a good dose of heat combined with all that action. The stomping MAKES the romping fun!
I pride myself on being able to write diverse heroines. Some are sweet and naïve, while others a tough and edgy. But no matter where they all start, they reach the end of their story having stomped the hell out of their enemies—and maybe they had a few romps in-between.
So if you’re like me and looking for some good “STROMPS’ check out my books!

Half Fae. Half Demon. 100% Badass Bitch.
My sisters and I weren’t born with magic. No, we were forced into it. Betrayed into it by the one person who was supposed to protect us. Now we’re living in a shithole desert town at the mercy of a sexy-as-hell Fae named Bastian.
So far, I’ve been able to buy Violet and Jade time to live freely, without being held to Bastian’s constant call. I’ve been doing his dirty work for five long years, but my sisters’ freedom is wearing thin. Soon he’ll summon them, just as he did me—and I can’t let that happen.
Bastian’s latest assignment offers an escape for my sisters, and I’d be a fool not to take it. But my target is more powerful than any man I’ve faced before, and doubly seductive. He draws out my inner demons—literally—and evading this attraction might prove more difficult than finishing what I started.
The first book in a New Series by Award-Winning Urban Fantasy & Paranormal Romance Author D.D. Miers and B. Crow. Perfect for fans of Mercy Thompson, Jane Yellowrock and Alex Craft!
Great thoughts. I do love strong filled characters and I do like seeing a kick ass heroine who falls in love along the way. Because love is empowering. 🙂 I do love a balance in romp and stomp.
I’ll take the stomp over the romp any day. Romp is not required, but I don’t mind it if it’s there.
