Last week I stumbled across another Netflix original series: 3%
That’s its title. 3%.
I’m not quite finished, but before I started episode 1, I knew it was dystopian.
And I watched it anyway.
I mention this b/c I’d rather shave my head than read another dystopian novel . . . Which got me thinking about all the other things I’ll watch but won’t read. Or will read but won’t watch.
Science Fiction
I’ll pretty much watch anything sci-fi: space operas, the aforementioned dystopian, ALL the superheroes, etc.
My one exception is giant-insects-as-aliens. *runs* *hides*
But I wil read NONE of it.
I just can’t. I get bored. There are, of course, exceptions, but they are few and far between. #notmything
Urban Fantasy
This one’s easy: I will watch anything UF. Even if it’s terrible. I don’t care. I’ll watch it anyway.
I’ll read it all too. Or I’ll at least attempt to read it. If it’s crap, my rage is disproportionate to the offense, but isn’t that usually the way when it’s what you love best?
Fantasy
I rarely watch fantasy. The obvious exception being GAME OF THRONES, b/c awesome. But ninety-nine times out of one hundred, anything designated as “fantasy,” both tv and movies, is a cornfest.
Don’t get me wrong, I love WILLOW as much as the next nerd . . . Ish . . . But take a look at the list that pops up on Netflix or Amazon Video when you search the category.
O_____O
BUT.
Like UF, I will read almost all of it.
Horror
I won’t read it, but I’ll watch it. Sometimes. Maybe.
What about you? Are there things that you’ll watch but won’t read and vice versa? Or am I a big weirdo?
I will read a dystopia if it doesn’t involve teens being sorted by some arbitrary system. But since that seems to be the only dystopia around anymore I may as well be on the no dystopia train along side you.

One that sticks out in my head is biographies or autobiographies. I can watch those sometimes on television, but I can’t read them. Same with most non-fiction. I can watch, but I find it just too boring to read.

I am not a big drama fan these days, but I can still read it. I am not the biggest thriller book fan but movies work well

Excellent subject! I don’t like to watch horror. I can read it though. I have an almost photographic memory visually so I’m pretty careful about what I watch.
I have to be talked into action movies most of the time (even though I enjoy them!) but LOVE books that are thriller/suspense with action and is fast paced.
I never really thought there was a difference in what I’ll read and watch but I guess there is.
