Kyle Williams is just a lone wolf trying to settle into a new skin. But when the brown-eyed girl from his past turns up, bloodied by a rival male, the instinct to protect overrides everything else—including duty to his pack.

Stefanie Alt is a woman on the run, and fate is hot on her heels. The only one who can help her is the neighborhood bad boy she once knew. But even after one hot night under the desert moon, Stefanie isn’t sure she can trust him—or herself.

There’s more than meets the eye on Twin Moon Ranch, home to a pack of shapeshifting wolves willing to battle for life and love.

* A paranormal romance with adult content. The perfect read for fans of strong heroines, alpha heroes, werewolves and shapeshifters, red-hot cowboys, romantic westerns, paranormal suspense, action-adventure romance, and fantasy romance! *

PNR Howling Sexy Alpha Male

After reading book two in this series, Desert Blood, I knew I wanted to read this one because I was intrigued with Kyle, human cop, turned wolf shifter, and I really wanted this unhappy guy to get his happily ever after.

Kyle was turned into a shifter when he got bitten while he is trying to break up a bar fight. It’s been a hard road for him, but he found a bit of normalcy by living on the outskirts of the Twin Moon Ranch, where the other shifters have become a sort of family for him. Stephanie is running from a shifter in a neighboring state. He bit her and tried to claim her as mate, but Stephanie wasn’t having any of it. She has no idea what is going on, only that she has already lost a couple of days that she has no memory about. When she gets a flat tire on a desert road, she gets out and decides to run. Kyle finds her there and it’s not long before the two realize that they used to be close friends when they were young.

This story has even more world building than the last one, in that pack laws and mating rituals are explored even more. Since Steph was bitten by another pack’s member, then he has first dibs on her, whether she wanted it or not. The wolves of Twin Moon Ranch are good, loving people, but even they can’t change pack laws. So it’s up to Kyle to protect her, because the other pack are known trouble makers and ruffians.

As before, I enjoyed all the interactions with the different shifters. There’s actually not that much of it due to Kyle being a loner, but still I liked what there was. But most of all, the romance between Kyle and Steph was very emotional and sweet, and I thought it was pretty great. The reader is pulled into Steph’s mind and all her thoughts and feelings about not being fully human anymore and about Kyle. Of course, the reader is privy to all Kyle’s thoughts and feelings as well.

Paranormal romance fans will certainly feel for this couple and their moving story. In addition to the romance, there’s also action and some almost heartbreaking moments. It’s an adult read due to some very smexy moments, and I do recommend it as a good read.

I’m Lorna and I live in Maryland. Since retiring, I spend my time mostly reading and reviewing books. My favorite reads are Paranormal Romance, Urban Fantasy, and Young Adult. I read a lot of indie books in addition to traditionally published books. Favorite paranormal creature? Vampires, but I am really liking werewolves more everyday.

  1. I’m so glad you’re continuing to enjoy this series, Lorna. It’s good more world building was done in this one. One of the things I like about shifters is seeing pack dynamics, so I’m happy Lowe is including that as well. The romance between Kyle and Steph seems like it’d be solid since they both were ‘created’ similarly. And the action seems like it provides the perfect balance for the romance. I’m definitely going to have to give this series a go! 😀
