Hey, guys! It’s no secret that I often get sucked into reading mediocre books b/c PRETTEH covers, so I’m trying something new. Here’s hoping I’ll be able to work the cover whore-ness out of my system by showcasing some of those covers as they’re revealed through Rabid Reads’ new feature: Fiction Police. *throws confetti in the air* *crowd goes wild*
Fiction Police
Which is your favorite? I’m loving that DREAMSTRIDER cover myself, but I also really like the alternate UPROOTED cover, too. It’s full of whimsy. And bless the Andrews’ hearts . . . *snickers* They really do seem to be victims of the Bad Cover Curse, don’t they?
My name is Jessica and I live in Chattanooga, Tennessee. I’m trying my hand at writing, but mostly I read. My favorite genres are Fantasy, Paranormal Romance, Science Fiction, Urban Fantasy, and the YA versions of those genres, but if there is a book of a different color getting lots of buzz, I’ll read it too, just to be informed. If I’m not reading or writing, I’m probably on Goodreads or Pinterest or baking blueberry pies because I love them.
Dude, what’s up with Andrews terrible covers. It’s like they’re saying we don’t even need a good cover because our books rock so hard. Burn for Me was EXTREMELY bad. This is better than that one, but still … WTF? I want to know who is in charge of picking and finalizing them so I congratulate them for sucking. I’ve had the sneaking suspicion that whoever picks Andrews’ covers must have a deep seated grudge from a past life. It’s the only possible explanation for the travesty that is the majority of their covers. Erin Burns recently posted…Arc Review – Total Surrender by Rebecca Zanetti
Nope. The Hugh spin-off wasn’t real (<------meanest April Fool's prank EVER), but that cover definitely is. I don't know which blog post you're talking about, but of the two that I saw, one asked people to stop asking if it was an April Fool's joke, and the other shared an "improved" version with dude-with-airbrushed-abs wearing a Hello Kitty shirt that some fan doctored 😉
And the crowd is definitely going wild, at least I am. *wink* Oh my…where do I start?? My friend Meg and I were freaking out over Ilona’s relase date for White Hot. But let’s talk about the Uprooted cover…it’s so pretty and delicate! You said it best, full of whimsy! ♥ But I’m totally in love with A Thousand Nights…it’s breathtaking and faraway, a stunning combination but I’m not sure that makes sense. Dream Strider is also quite fabulous b/c it reminds me (visually) of how my brain works (kinda colorful and oh so complicated). Love this post my friend! *throws more confetti in the air* 😉 Cristina recently posted…It’s Not Really Goodbye…
Yeah, A Thousand Nights looks really good. The cover AND the actual book. Maybe it’s just me, but it feels like there are a LOT of Arabian Nights themed books coming out. Which is awesome 😉
Huh. Not a fan of White Hot. What’s going on with that? It’s got one thing going for it: It’s written by Ilona Andrews. Joy // Joyousreads recently posted…[506]: Vision in Silver by Anne Bishop
And THAT is the most important thing. Otherwise . . . 😉

Some of those covers are just so pretty….. and then you have White Hot, which looks even worse by comparison. On the other hand, I know which one I’ll be pre-ordering – I’m a huge Andrews fangirl. It’s a good thing though that they already have a big fan base since they probably won’t get any second looks based on the cover alone.
Love this new feature! I’m digging Dream Strider as well. I haven’t actually seen any of these covers until now, so guess whose going book browsing 😉 Poor Andrews, that cover really is bad.
I’ve been waiting for that DREAMSTRIDER cover for like a YEAR. So I’m really glad it turned out so well. As for the Andrews . . . well, at least we all know that their writing is infinitely better than it’s packaging 😉
Yeah, I thought this was a really good batch. Except for the Westerfeld which is kind of blah, and CITY OF BLADES which is downright ugly IMO. The only reason it’s even here is b/c I know a lot of bloggers who really, really enjoyed the first book.
TBR is stuffed again. I BLAME YOUUU. 😀 I’m judgmental when it comes to book covers. I don’t even hide the fact that most books are added on my TBR JUST BECAUSE of their cover. I’m gonna love this new feature, Jessica. *takes blame* 😉 And yeah, I finally added both a cover-whore shelf on Goodreads, and a board on Pinterest. Books covers . . . they’re just so pretty sometimes.
Hmmm, not sure how I feel about that cover for Uprooted. It’s very pretty but I like the original more. Still can’t get over the White Hot edit with Rogan in the Hello Kitty t-shirt…he could pull it off. Danya recently posted…Review: Etiquette & Espionage by Gail Carriger

Fabulous new feature, Jessica!! 😉 *cheers* Okay, so Dream Strider is the cover that was most eye-catching for me. I do like The Gathering Deep as well. And since I know you stalk the Andrews’ blog ;), I know you saw their pick for a cover for the first book in The Hidden Legacy series and how different the one chosen by the publisher is. :/ Cover curse, indeed. Thank goodness what’s between the covers is always soooo good! 🙂 Bookworm Brandee recently posted…Blog Tour Review & Giveaway ~ Eire’s Devil King ~ Sandi Layne

I don’t know, LOL. I think the early Kate covers are even worse o.O

Right?! They joke about not being able to keep a cover model for continuity, but I say that’s the lesser of the two evils, LOL.

DreamStrider has a really lush and gorgeous cover, let’s hope the book will be equally amazing!
And yep, the Andrews don’t seem to get a non-typical, ugh-looking cover much!

Poor Andrews, LOL.
Ah, these are all so pretty! Blood Passage and Dream Strider especially 🙂

Not sure these will help work the cover coveting out of your system, but they sure worked them into mine. They’re all good in their own ways.
