Trigger Warning
by Neil Gaiman
Fantasy
|
|
[learn_more caption=”Book Description”]Multiple award winning, #1 New York Times bestselling author Neil Gaiman returns to dazzle, captivate, haunt, and entertain with this third collection of short fiction following Smoke and Mirrors and Fragile Things—which includes a never-before published American Gods story, “Black Dog,” written exclusively for this volume.
In this new anthology, Neil Gaiman pierces the veil of reality to reveal the enigmatic, shadowy world that lies beneath. Trigger Warning includes previously published pieces of short fiction—stories, verse, and a very special Doctor Who story that was written for the fiftieth anniversary of the beloved series in 2013—as well “Black Dog,” a new tale that revisits the world of American Gods, exclusive to this collection.
Trigger Warning explores the masks we all wear and the people we are beneath them to reveal our vulnerabilities and our truest selves. Here is a rich cornucopia of horror and ghosts stories, science fiction and fairy tales, fabulism and poetry that explore the realm of experience and emotion. In Adventure Story—a thematic companion to The Ocean at the End of the Lane—Gaiman ponders death and the way people take their stories with them when they die. His social media experience A Calendar of Tales are short takes inspired by replies to fan tweets about the months of the year—stories of pirates and the March winds, an igloo made of books, and a Mother’s Day card that portends disturbances in the universe. Gaiman offers his own ingenious spin on Sherlock Holmes in his award-nominated mystery tale The Case of Death and Honey. And Click-Clack the Rattlebag explains the creaks and clatter we hear when we’re all alone in the darkness.
A sophisticated writer whose creative genius is unparalleled, Gaiman entrances with his literary alchemy, transporting us deep into the realm of imagination, where the fantastical becomes real and the everyday incandescent. Full of wonder and terror, surprises and amusements, Trigger Warning is a treasury of delights that engage the mind, stir the heart, and shake the soul from one of the most unique and popular literary artists of our day.[/learn_more] |

[learn_more caption=”Book Description”]Jules is a revenant—an undead being whose fate forces him to sacrifice himself over and over again to save human lives. He’s spent the last century flirting his way through Paris and, most recently, falling in love with his best friend’s girlfriend. Loyalty and heartbreak have led him to choose a new life in NYC.
Separated from his friends and his home, Jules is adrift in this dangerous new world, facing unknown enemies . . . until he meets a revenant named Ava. Though the battle for France has been won, an epic war between good and evil has just begun in the Big Apple, and Ava needs Jules’s help to uncover the key to an American victory. Jules finds himself in the same position he crossed an ocean to escape: at risk of losing his immortal existence as well as his heart.[/learn_more] |

Invaded I have preordered and it’s shipped today, so I’m hoping it won’t take forever to arrive!
City of Savages is in my list for whenever the book buying ban is over cause I’ve heard great things about it!
And I plan to get me a copy of Shutter because I read and loved the ARC!

You have your marching orders, Pili. Now, go forth and READ! 😀
Wow, a lot of these are new to me but a they also have some pretty covers! I’ve been seeing a lot of Soulprint around recently. And you’ve piqued my interest in Karen Memory! I’ve been wanting to read more Steampunk 😀

It’s impossible not to fall victim to some of these covers! I’m hoping to read more Steampunk as well this year. Or at least, that’s the plan!

I wouldn’t want you to miss out on a fabulous title!
It’s probably a good thing I don’t have a lot of money to spend on books cause I would be broke every time you post one of these..lol. 🙂

Isn’t that what credit cards are for? Not, but seriously, book buying budgets are a MUST.
I don’t have a credit card..I couldn’t afford one..I would have the bill so high I couldn’t pay for it…lol.

Good plan. They make it 10x harder to resist temptation.
Wow, the list has many that appeal to me this week. Already read Cherry Bomb and Karen Memory. Saw a couple others I already had on my wish list as well.

There are a decent amount of Fantasy novels out today which is good news for you!
Wow, this week was a great book week! I will definitely be avoiding Shutter however, that cover is beyond terrifying and I don’t think I’ll be able to make it through the story without nightmares:) Can’t wait to read Invaded though!!!
I’m not big on horror either. Overactive imaginations do have their downfalls!
Gah! New release overload. So many fantastic new books!

Lots of great books out! I have my eye on Karen Memory. That one looks so good!
I read a review for it yesterday over at Fantasy Review Barn, and was surprised to learn that the character is a hick. LOVE IT!
i only recently discovered teh breed series so i must say that overcome tempt me greatly

I’ve been eyeing that one for a while now, looking for a Black Dagger Brotherhood alternative…
Nothing that I must have this week. I do have an ARC of Shutter that I will be reading soon. Hoping for a good read.

More time to catch-up on your existing TBR!
Am I really weird? The title that still stands out in my head is the one with the Highlander… there’s just something about the Scottish brough and a man in a kilt that gets to me. Every single time 😀
I really enjoyed Soulprint! Very different kind of premise, about how we should really not judge others, and in this one it gets more complicated because past lives are taken into account as well…
Lexxie recently posted…Review: Soulprint – Megan Miranda
That’s not weird at all! I’m burning through Kresley Cole’s IAD series cuz of Robert Petkoff’s (narrator) brogue.
From those the only one I wanted was Edged Blade and I already read it. There are couple new to me I wonder about, I’ll have to check them out.

I’m really curious about SoulPrint, and I need to read more by Dakota Cassidy!!
ShootingStarsMag recently posted…Nothing Like Paris by Amy Jo Cousins
I’ve only read one of Dakota Cassidy’s Accidentals books, but it was super cute. I definitely want more!
I only got The Raven by Sylvain Reynard even though I have a love-hate relationship with the author..lol My list today seems to be full of contemporaries 0_o
Thanks Carmel 🙂

Aah, yes. Those are always fun ones! You can’t say no, but you’re pretty sure the book might suck. Here’s hoping that this’ll be a WIN.
Lot of books that were on my radar this week, but I think I had most of them for review and read almost everything – still working on Thorn of Dentonhill though! And Karen Memory was amazing!
Mogsy recently posted…Book Review: Karen Memory by Elizabeth Bear
I just saw your review pop up in my feed, and was planning to hop on over to check-out your thoughts. Glad you liked it!
I love Dakota Cassidy! I think I’ve only read the first two books front hat series but they were a lot of fun.
I also want to read Beastkeeper. i hear good things.
I had a blast reading The Accidental Werewolf 2: Something About Harry which reminds me, I still need to check-out the first installment.
The Unwanteds are already on #5?! I read the first and really liked it. I have a lot of catching up to do! I think I need to read that Dakota Cassidy series though, I’m looking up the first, I might already have it.

Oh, yay!! Forgot Echo 8 came out today. Love Sharon Lynn Fisher. As always, thanks for sharing these =)

That title is totally your style! I hope that it exceeds your expectations.
I got one that no one else mentioned, I sure hope it’s not a lemon-Storm in a Teacup. We will see I guess.
Your tastes have always ran on the eccentric side. 😛
I’m hoping to grab-up Invaded soon! And, Karen Memory sounds pretty amazing as well with its western-steampunk theme going on.
Thanks for the list of future temptations 🙂

And, I don’t even touch on all of the other Romance subgenres that most of you are addicted to.
There’s a lot this week! I have Dearest on my library hold list (which honestly keeps growing) and I can’t wait for it to be ready. I’m glad you do these every week!
Patience is a virtue, and I’ve got none of it. LOL! Waiting list, smwaiting list. 😉
Karen Memory was a lot of fun! And I’d love to read Shutter
Mogsy & Nathan both loved that one!
So many good titles to choose from! Dakota Cassidy is one of my favorites, and I can’t wait to read Neil Gaiman’s new book! Thanks for putting this list together!

You’re welcome! I hope you have time to squeeze in both this week.
I keep wondering how the DCassidy books are. I always like the covers and blurbs. Need to check those out 🙂
They are cute, but some are better than others.
No wonder I am so behind on few books, so many of these I plan to read, Brastkeeper, Master of Plagues, loved Karen. Memory, Echo 8 was ok, I still need to get to Soulprint and Cherry. Bomb I have started and I am really looking forward to Thorn of Denton Hill.
