by E.J. Stevens
Urban Fantasy

|
[learn_more caption=”Book Description”]The only thing worse than being a Hunter in the fae-ridden city of Harborsmouth, is hunting vamps in Bruges.
Being shipped off to Belgium sucks. The medieval city of Bruges is quaint, but the local Hunters’ Guild is understaffed, the canals are choked with dead bodies, and there’s no shortage of supernatural predators as likely suspects.
On second thought, maybe Bruges isn’t so bad after all.
With a desire to prove herself, protect the innocent, and advance within the ranks of the Hunters’ Guild, Jenna Lehane hits the cobbled streets of Bruges with blades at the ready. Someone, or something, is murdering tourists and dumping their bodies in the city’s scenic canals. With the help of a mysterious stranger, Jenna begins to piece together clues that are dotted throughout the city like blood spatter.
Determined to stop the killings, Jenna delves into a bloody local history that only raises more questions–but some secrets are best left buried. Jenna must put her combat training to the test as she struggles to unearth the truth about an ancient enemy.
Hunting in Bruges is the first novel in the Hunters’ Guild urban fantasy series set in the world of Ivy Granger.[/learn_more] |

Arcana
by Jessica Leake
Fantasy

|
[learn_more caption=”Book Description”]A romantic, suspenseful, genre-bending debut set in Edwardian London.
Amid the sumptuous backdrop of the London season in 1905, headstrong Katherine Sinclair must join the ranks of debutantes vying for suitors. Unfortunately for Katherine, she cannot imagine anything more loathsome—or dangerous. To help ease her entrance into society, Katherine’s family has elicited the assistance of the Earl of Thornewood, a friend and London’s most eligible bachelor, to be her constant companion at the endless fetes and balls. But upon her arrival in London, Katherine realizes there will be more to this season than just white gowns and husband hunting.
Through her late mother’s enchanted diary, Katherine receives warning to keep hidden her otherworldly ability to perform arcana, a magic fueled by the power of the sun. Any misstep could mean ruin—and not just for her family name. The Order of the Eternal Sun is everywhere—hunting for those like her, able to feed on arcana with only a touch of the hand.
But society intrigue can be just as perilous as the Order. The machinations of the fashionable elite are a constant threat, and those who covet Katherine’s arcana, seeking the power of her birthright, could be hiding behind the façade of every suitor—even the darkly handsome Earl of Thornewood.
With so much danger and suspicion, can she give her heart to the one who captivates her, or is he just another after her power?[/learn_more] |

Teenage prospector Ross Juarez’s best find ever – an ancient book he doesn’t know how to read – nearly costs him his life when a bounty hunter is set on him to kill him and steal the book. E.J. Stevens deserves lots of love this week; she’s such a talented author!
This week there are a pair of books that are interesting but nothing that makes me want to run to buy them, which is quite good given how I’m on a book buying ban!
Pili recently posted…Last Will And Testament by Dahlia Adler: Excerpt!!
Aaww, book buying bans SUCKS. It’s good that no titles called to you this week, makes it easier to resist temptation.
Thank goodness this is a lighter week! Hunting in Bruges is new to me and sounds like something I might like. I see a new Donna Grant too …
Thanks Carmel! 🙂

I’m surprised that more peeps aren’t squeeing over the new Donna Grant book. I haven’t read her, but she’s a pretty big name in PNR.
Ah! A DARKER PAST! I really enjoyed the first book in that series Carmel, I can’t wait to see what’s going to unfold in this second book:) I’ve heard really great things about Jenna Black’s trilogy too, so that’s on my list as well. *sigh* I wish work didn’t cut into my reading time quite so much 😉
We really should get paid to read, Jenny. That’s the only way we’ll ever be able to tackle everything on your wishlists. Then again, maybe not cuz they’d be longer. LOL!
Thanks so much for posting these!

Wow, short list this week, and nothing featured here I need to get.
The end of the year does get a little lighter. Good for me, because I need time to catch up on books!

I’m happy that this week’s post is on the light side, means I don’t have to spend as much time building it, and even less trying to play catch-up.
There is nothing there that I’m planning to read… but I have to mention the cover of The Bane Chronicles… OMG! What an ugly and creepy cover.
