Happy New Year! π It is time for the Best of 2013 Audiobook Blog Hop where we highlight our favorite 3 audiobooks from 2013. This hop is hosted by The Book Nympho, Hot Listens, and Geeky Bloggers Book Blog. It runs from Jan 1 2014 to Jan 15 2014.
Unlike the hosts of this hop, I only listen to a handful of audiobooks a year, which means when it came time to come up with my three fav’s it was pretty slim pickings. LOL I did however branch out a little more in 2013 so at least I had a better variety to chose from than last year where I pretty much exclusively listened to 2 or 3 series’. Anyway… let’s get on with the hop!
Thoughts: I absolutely adored listening to this one; Allison McLemore is the perfect narrator to read Angel Crawford’s POV. She nails the heroine’s snarky personality and adds just the right amount of southern twang to her voice to accurately convey the “trailer trash” stereotype. | |

Thoughts: I have yet to read a KATE DANIELS book because I fell in love with RenΓ©e Raudman’s narration after listening to the first installment. She brings Ilona Andrews’ world to life with her sarcastic tone and badass persona. Listen to a sample at Audible.com. |

Thoughts: This is one of those series’ that’s been on my wishlist forever and when I finally started it I couldn’t help but kick myself for having waited so long. I love Luke Daniels as Atticus; he’s great with the accents and I especially love when he reads Oberon’s (Irish Wolfhound) POV. I actually found a cute little Xmas message from the dog that I thought I’d share! Listen to a sample at Audible.com. |
Happy hopping everyone and good luck!!

I have Hounded in my TB*L* list π Glad to hear that it is a good choice! You can find my favourite of the year here Just Reading for Fun
Just be warned; once you start, you won’t be able to stop!
Hounded made my list of favorite audiobooks in 2013 too! (And I listen to 1-2 a week!)
Now THAT’S saying something and… omg 1-2 a week?? You are a machine!
I really need to finish listening to the Ilona Andrews series! I did the first one and loved it π
Favorite: One of my favorites was Surrender to the Devil by Lorraine Heath/ narrated by Susan Erickson
What?? You haven’t listened to all of the Kate Daniels books? I’m surprised because you put my audiobook consumption to shame. LOL
White Fire from the Agent Pendergast Series by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child, Narrated By Rene Auberjonois. Close second is Black Arts from the Jane Yellowrock series by Faith Hunter, Narrated By Khristine Hvam. Happy New Year from Oklahoma, USA. crystalbluern at onlineok dot com
I still need to get caught-up on Hunter’s Jane Yellowrock series. I’m listening to them as part of my 2014 AudioBook Challenge goal.
I think I’m going to be in the same boat as you when I finally pull Hounded out of my TBL stack and listen to it: I’ll be kicking myself for waiting so long. I’ve heard nothing but praise for this series in audio.
Yuppers. LOL Don’t you just hate it when that happens?? π
Listening to Kevin Hearne’s The Iron Druid Chronicles in 2013 was an audio experience standout – loved it! Thanks for linking Oberon’s Holiday Message. π
Glad to hear that so many people are diggin’ Hearne’s books. When I came across Oberon’s song I just knew that I had to share it! Hehe
Oh I have White Trash Zombie downloaded but haven’t listened to it yet. I’m glad to hear it’s a good one! I’m listening to Justine Eyre right now, and although she didn’t make my top 3, she is really good. I was leary at first with her, but she has really grown on me with each of the Alien Huntress books I’ve listened to.
I didn’t enjoy the 2nd one quite as much as the first but I’ll definitely be continuing with this series.
Bane and Dr Sleep.
Tammy Hudson

Thanks for stopping by. Good luck!
I haven’t tried an audiobook yet. this year I definitely will.
They take a bit of getting used to at first but they’re definitely habit forming!
I love the Twilight series. Thanks for the awesome giveaway.
It’s been a while since I’ve read that one; re-watched part 1 & 2 of the third movie over the holidays.
I just finished Jennifer Estep’s Spider’s Bite yesterday and OMG! I LOVED it! I have Web of Lies all cued up to start tomorrow morning. Thank you, thank you, thank you for getting me to give it a try π
You are welcome! I burned through those audiobooks in record time!
I read your favorite 3 and love them in books, I’m sure they are great in audiobooks too.
My favorite audiobook of 2013 was A Memory of Light by Robert Jordan.
I try to use audiobooks to catch-up on series that I’m behind on and read ARCs.
I really enjoyed Shatter Me by Mafi. Oh and I did love Oberon’s message too! π
Isn’t he adorable!? I <3 him!
I plan to read more audio books in 2014. I loved My Life as a White Trash Zombie and the second installment, but I haven’t listened to them. I have the first book in the Kate Daniels series on audio and am looking forward to it!
I totally forgot to list my fave in my first comment (duh!). Since I’ve only just started audios it has to be Web of Lies by Jennifer Estep, book 3 was a bit tough to get through for some reason but I plan on continuing the series. π
That’s an awesome pick! I approve. I hope you get to your other pretties soon. π
I haven’t read any of these – thought Iona Lewis is on my TBR for 2014 for sure! It’s been on hold for way too long. My favorite narrator is Amanda Ronconi – can’t pick just one book honestly.
Oh yes, I LOVE Ronconi. She does a great job with Molly Harper’s series.
One of my favorite 2013 releases was Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy by Helen Fielding narrated by Samantha Bond.
Cool. Thanks for stopping by!
I loved Wonder and A Vintage Affair. The Kitchen House was great too. Ohh so many!!!!
I know! It’s hard to pick just three. o_O
Archangel’s Legion by Nalini Singh or Fifth Grave by Darynda Jones.
I’ve been meaning to check-out some of Nalini Singh’s books and anything by Darynda Jones is a given. LOVE her!
Dad Is Fat by Jim Gaffigan
LOL That’s quite the title.
Ilona Andrews’ Magic Rises
Great pick!
My favorite read this year was Ever After by Kim Harrison! My husband and I always by both the audio and the hardback of this series. Marguerite Gavin does a great job!
That’s another series that I’m super far behind on. *sigh*
I love the narration for White Trash and Kate Daniels.
I’ve downloaded books 1-3 in the Iron Druid series and I can’t wait to start them.
Luke Daniels is the man, you’re going to love them.
Awesome list, I own Hounded and so need to get to it. I am hoping to add one audio book a month π
Hounded is definitely a good way to go. LOVE that book so hard.
What can I say? I also loved everyone of your picks!
I have not pick my favorite yet…. I’m torn π
Thanks for participating on the Hop!
What?? You haven’t picked yours yet? Aren’t you hosting this blog hop? π
I loved His Majesty’s Dragon and Sky on Fire, were two of my favorites.
I finally listened to Looking For Alaska by John Green and loved it! Thanks for the giveaway! π
I tend to read more than audio, but I did read a few this year. One of my favorites listens was Janet Evanovich’s Explosive Eighteen; this was a wonderful story with a great narrator. I also listed to a few of the first books in the Anita Blake series by Laurell K. Hamilton and this narrator was also very good; my trial ran out for that series so I was only able to listen to the first four or five in the series so I cannot say how later versions play out, but it was great fun revisiting and old favorite that I have been reading for years on audio. Thank you for participating in the fun!
Thin Ice by Anne Stuart, narrated by Xe Sands-who can do no wrong!
Thanks for the giveaway! I loved Iced by Karen Marie Moning. The male narrator is great!
My 2013 fave is Thankless in Death by J.D. Robb, narrated by Susan Ericksen.
Thanks for the amazing giveaway!
elizabeth @ bookattict . com
Oldies by Julie Garwood, I went with the safe route and listened to authors I loved reading, needed someone I trusted and once I found a good author/narrator combo punch I was hooked so I def want to listen to more in 2014.
I think Hounded is going on my treadmill listening list. Thanks for the suggestion!
Oh dear…. I just fell in love with Oberon! Thanks for posting his holiday message. Bummer. My library doesn’t have this series in audio. I may actually have to buy it. π
Crystal
CK2S Kwips and Kritiques
Luke Daniels did such a great job with the Iron Druid Chronicles! I still think my fav this year was Iced by KMM!
It’s difficult to narrow to just one, but two of my favorites were One Tiny Lie by K.A. Tucker and The Fiery Heart by Richelle Mead.
fallen too far by Abbi Glines
all three of your picks are on my TBL (to be listened) pile. I’ve seen others mentions some of the same ones so I definitely have to try them out! One of my faves this year was Burn for Burn by Jenny Han and Siobhan Vivian
“Kitty in the underworld” by Carrie Vaughn is one of the top books for me. I have listened to all the books in the series. ‘Dark and Lonely Place’ by Edna Buchannan a crime novel. One of my favorite series of books is Lisa Klepas Friday Harbor books.
Christmas at Friday harbor and the last one Crystal Cove I enjoyed them all.
Ever After by Kim Harrison
My favorite audiobook was Steelβs Edge by Ilona Andrews.
I haven’t listened to any audio books yet so I don’t have a favorite. But I’ve been wanting to try them for a while!!
I listened to World War Z
I only listened to 1 as i tried my first 1 in December.. does that count?? π It was Lust, Money & Murder by Mike Wells and narrated by Sue Sharp π I’m sure I will have a longer list this year <3
Chanzie @ Mean Who You Are.
I have received two audio books over the last year and haven’t read them yet!!
I have only listen to a handful of audiobooks and none that were release in 2013. The ones I have listened to I really enjoyed and would love to listen to more this year. Two of my favorites are The Marriage Bargain by Jennifer Probst and Grave Mercy by Robin LaFevers.
