As you probably already know, I’m not a very big Young Adult reader. That’s what I have associate reviewers for! 😉 There’s just something about reliving high school and crushing on a fictional guy that’s half my age that feels wrong. Plus, it’s difficult to get my smut fix from YA. LOL So this week I’m asking you to recommend your favourite YA books to me because there are some great ones out there, I just need to find ’em!

That being said, lately I have been reading more Young Adult books than usual; I even gave a New Adult novel a try (go me) and I’m not afraid to admit it, I LOVED IT! I’m talking about Alpha Girl by Kate Bloomfield in case you’re curious. Anyway, this post is supposed to be about YA not NA so this week, my Young Adult recommendation to you is…

The Mythos Academy Series

  1. I’m not a big YA reader either but here are a few I’ve read and enjoyed.

Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead
Hunger Games trilogy by Suzanne Collins
Poison Princess by Kresley Cole – LOVED! (can’t wait for the 2nd book in Oct)
Shade trilogy by Jeri Smith-Ready (still need to read the last one)

I’m currently reading Touch of Frost by Jennifer Estep.

  2. I agree with Jennifer, you need to check out Poison Princess by Kresley Cole and I really like Darynda Jones’ Darklight series. I have A.G. Howard’s Splintered downloaded but haven’t started it yet.

  3. I’m very picky with my YA choices. I also loved Vampire Academy and Poison Princess (I hear audio is amazing) and I will add the following:

Daughter of Smoke & Bone by Laini Taylor
    The Program by Suzanne Young
    Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi

  4. Since you love Kelley Armstrong you should definitely check out her YA series. I’m going to have to look at your Goodreads to see what other ones you’ ve read.

  5. The Morganville Vampire series by Rachel Caine is right up your alley, no werewolves, but the non stop action and suspense make the the books impossible to put down. Great audio-books Let me know when you’re ready, I’ll send you the first book 🙂

  6. Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead
Between the Lines series by Tammara Webber
    Shade series by Jeri Smith-Ready

    All fantastic with electric romance!

  7. I’ve seen Alpha Girl around the place. It looks really good.
If you’re still looking for YA, try the Spellbound trilogy by Nikki Jefford. She’s an awesome author.

    • I was surprised by how much I liked it. When I read student/teacher relationship in the blurb I was like eew? But, it actually wasn’t as crazy as I thought it’d be.

  8. Krista

My book BFF keeps making me borrow her YA books and I keep getting surprised by how much I actually enjoy them.

Definitely the VA series. It was a little confusing at first and I hated the main character, but she eventually matured and I fell in love with the series.

    Cinder by Marrisa Meyer

I really enjoyed Spirit by Brigid Kemmerer, but I haven’t read the rest of the series yet.

I’ve also heard amazing things about the Lux series (my friend pretty much devoured the books in a few days), but I haven’t had a chance to read it yet.

  9. For YA I tend to gravitate toward more fantasy/action stories rather than straight romance. Partials by Dan Wells is great, so is the 5th Wave!
