Para-RT13

Today’s Para-RT13 interview features Kristen Painter, author of the House of Comarre series. The fifth and final installment, Last Blood, is set to hit shelves this July. Welcome to Rabid Reads Kristen! đŸ™‚

Introduce Yourself to our readers:

[box]I’m Kristen Painter and I write paranormal romance and urban fantasy, but more importantly, if you see me at RT, don’t be afraid to say hi. I love meeting readers![/box]

Tell us a little about your books?

[box]My current series, House of Comarre, is loosely based on the “what if” premise of vampires having blood geishas. From there, chaos ensues.[/box]

Is this your first RT convention?

[box]Nope. Been to many. Actually not sure what number this is, but I’ve been going since before I was published. Let’s not talk about how long that’s been, okay? lol[/box]

What are you most looking forward to at RT?

[box]Talking to readers, seeing friends I haven’t seen in ages and cutting loose a little. I’m tired of being chained to this keyboard.[/box]

If you’ve been to one before any tips for us newbies?

[box]You can sleep when you’re dead. Stay up and have fun![/box]

Where can we find you at RT? Are you on any panels, going to any parties, etc.

[box]I’m one of the hosts of the Vampire Mixer, so be sure to come see me! I’ll have swag. ;o)[/box]

Since this event is for paranormal authors, can you tell us more about the paranormal in your book(s)?

[box]Besides vampires, I’ve got a created race of fae who are super cool and varcolai, which is my word for shifters, so there are lots of paranormal creatures in my books for readers who dig that kind of stuff.[/box]

Tell us a little about your newest book?

[box]Last Blood will be out July 30th and it’s the final installment of the House of Comarre series. It’s going to be a FUN ride![/box]

Is your RT experience all planned out or are you more of a fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants type person?

[box]I plan a few things, meetings with publishers, that sort of thing, but otherwise, I like to go with the flow and see what happens![/box]

Rebellion has a price.

The lacy gold mapped her entire body. A finely wrought filigree of stars, vines, flowers, butterflies, ancient symbols and words ran from her feet, up her legs, over her narrow waist, spanned her chest and finished down her arms to the tips of her fingers.

Born into a life of secrets and service, Chrysabelle’s body bears the telltale marks of a comarré—a special race of humans bred to feed vampire nobility. When her patron is murdered, she becomes the prime suspect, which sends her running into the mortal world…and into the arms of Malkolm, an outcast vampire cursed to kill every being from whom he drinks.

Now, Chrysabelle and Malkolm must work together to stop a plot to merge the mortal and supernatural worlds. If they fail, a chaos unlike anything anyone has ever seen will threaten to reign.[/tab] [tab]Flesh and Blood

With the ring of sorrows still missing, and the covenant between othernaturals and mortals broken, Chrysabelle and Malkolm’s problems are just beginning. Chrysabelle still owes Malkolm for his help, but fulfilling that debt means returning to Corvinestri, the hidden vampire city neither of them is welcome in.

The discovery that Chrysabelle has a brother could mean reneging on her promise to Malkolm, something that might make him angry enough to loose the beast living inside him. And fulfilling her vow could prove devastating for Chrysabelle — especially when you throw in power hungry witches, dead fringe vampires, and the Kubai Mata.[/tab] [tab]Bad Blood

Violent murders occur in Paradise City as counterfeit comarré are systematically hunted. As war erupts at home, Malkolm and Chrysabelle head to New Orleans to recover the Ring of Sorrows. Forced to make a life and death decision, Chrysabelle will realize that her relationship to Malkolm may have fatal consequences.

Samhain approaches, bringing with it the final melding of the mortal and othernatural worlds. No one knows just how much power the night holds…[/tab] [tab]Out For Blood

After nearly dying at the hands of the Aurelian, Chrysabelle finds new determination to move beyond life as a comarré. That is until the Kubai Mata bring a new task to her doorstep: rescue the child Tatiana has kidnapped, or Mal becomes enemy number one.[/tab] [tab]Last Blood

In the final showdown between the forces of dark and light, Mal and Chrysabelle face not only Tatiana, but the ancient evil that now controls her: the Castus Sanguis. Chrysabelle gathers her friends and family around her, forming a plan to bring an end to the chaos surrounding them. But the Castus is the most powerful being they’ve ever come up against. Defeating such evil will require a great sacrifice from someone on the side of light.

One of them will change sides. One of them will die. No one will survive unscathed. Can Chrysabelle save those she cares about or will that love get her killed? What price is she willing to pay to draw last blood?[/tab] [/tabcontent] [/tabs]
