There’s some opening lines that just stick with you, no matter how long ago you read the book. The ones listed below are in no way “the best ever” but rather the ones that I could remember off the top of my head.

The moment the door opened I knew an ass-kicking was inevitable. Whether I’d be giving it or receiving it was still a bit of a mystery.

Stray by Rachel Vincent

I remember lying in the snow, a small red spot of warm going cold, surrounded by wolves.

Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater

“My name is Gin, and I kill people.”

Spider’s Bite by Jennifer Estep

Only two-thirty in the morning, and I already had blood on my hands.

Blood Bound by Rachel Vincent

What about you?

  1. “I knew I was in trouble as soon as I saw the obituary.” Karen Chance – Touch the Dark.

any line for this series can count as my favorite šŸ™‚

  2. The opening line that really sticks with me is the one for “The Gargoyle” by Andrew Davidson.

“Accidents ambush the unexpecting, often violently, just like love”
