For the most part, I just want to talk about it! I either hunt down other blogger who’s reading it or, if it’s a super secret ARC and I’m “not supposed to talk about it”, then my fiancรฉ has to suffer through my girly raving. Other times I’ll write my review immediately while everything’s still fresh. This isn’t always do-able but I find that my better reviews are usually a result of writing my thoughts down right after finishing a book. Sometimes I’ll stalk the author and see if it’s a series, when the next book is coming out, if there are any novella’s available, etc. Every now and then I’ll forgo jumping into another novel right away and just bask in the high that I get after finishing a really good book.
What about you?
What Do You Do After Reading A Really Good Book? |
About the Blogger
I review Urban Fantasy and Paranormal Romance books with a focus all things werewolf. Based out of Ottawa, Canada
I find a good book is like a good movie, and I go to bed with it on my mind. It also inspires me to keep writing. I’ve just got back into reading, so if I’m done early enough in the day, I write up a rough draft of a book review. ๐
I start by being very happy that I read the book. Then I sniffle, cry, whimper and moan because it ended. If it’s part of a series, I squee like a lunatic, making my dear pet and any other person in my house think I just lost my last thin thread of sanity. Then I slap my hands because I have the urge to reread the book right then. Then I drive anyone who’ll listen nuts talking about the book. ๐
I go tweet, Facebook, and/or post on Goodreads about the book. Like you, I just want to talk about it! Then, if it’s a series, I immediately go download the next book!
@darkeconteur That’s a great system. I wish I was that disciplined!
@Ruby Hehe, that’s an interesting ritual you have there! :p
@Sondrae Bennett Aah yes, I forgot to add my social media frenzy to my answer. Excellent point!
Immediately after? I sigh and some other sound escapes me though I don’t have the words to describe it. Heart break, maybe? I dunno. Then, I have to admit, I hug the book as if that will help me in my postpartum depression.
And then I do as you do – run out to find anybody, somebody who wants to talk about it because I need to know that there’s somebody else who went through the same experience, or perhaps a different one.
I think I need a little therapy… Haha!
I want to talk about it too!
I go online straight away to find out when the next book is out and what other novels the author has written. I also leave reviews on Goodreads and Amazon.
I blab and blab about it to my husband and then I usually try to write the review down before I type it out.
@Jessie Marie Another book hugger! LOL And I thought Julie was the only one.
@emmameade.com Seems to be the common answer to today’s question. I guess that’s why we’re book bloggers. :p
@Amy Read to My Heart’s Content Your husband must be such a sweetie. I can only get away with so much “book talk” with mine.
I also write a review right when it is still fresh. I will become a fan on goodreads and look up more info about if there will be more in the series or other books from the author. I will talk to anyone who will listen about the book and go on book rants with my cousin. My boyfriend is great because even though he doesn’t read, he still listens to me as I rave about a book ๐
@Vyki @ On The Shelf Sounds like we have similar after book rituals. ๐
I sit for a second, letting the high of an awesome book settle in. I bug bloggers and my friends and talk about it for at least an hour. Then I am on to the next book.
