The nature-y vibe is what first attracted me to this cover. I love the vibrant colors!
I like that one of her eyes is hidden while the other is staring right at you. And so blue!
There’s swoop-iness everywhere; from the vines, to her hair, to the title. |
Splintered by A. G. Howard January 2013

This stunning debut captures the grotesque madness of a mystical under-land, as well as a girl’s pangs of first love and independence. Alyssa Gardner hears the whispers of bugs and flowers—precisely the affliction that landed her mother in a mental hospital years before. This family curse stretches back to her ancestor Alice Liddell, the real-life inspiration for Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. Alyssa might be crazy, but she manages to keep it together. For now.
When her mother’s mental health takes a turn for the worse, Alyssa learns that what she thought was fiction is based in terrifying reality. The real Wonderland is a place far darker and more twisted than Lewis Carroll ever let on. There, Alyssa must pass a series of tests, including draining an ocean of Alice’s tears, waking the slumbering tea party, and subduing a vicious bandersnatch, to fix Alice’s mistakes and save her family. She must also decide whom to trust: Jeb, her gorgeous best friend and secret crush, or the sexy but suspicious Morpheus, her guide through Wonderland, who may have dark motives of his own. |

The girl in a pretty dress gets me everytime…
This cover’s really somber but still very beautiful. I like the cloudy sky; I’m a sucker for storms.
The feather on her shoulder is a neat little detail. |
Taste by Kate Evangelista May 2012 Buy from Crescent Moon Press |
At Barinkoff Academy, there’s only one rule: no students on campus after curfew. Phoenix McKay soon finds out why when she is left behind at sunset. A group calling themselves night students threaten to taste her flesh until she is saved by a mysterious, alluring boy. With his pale skin, dark eyes, and mesmerizing voice, Demitri is both irresistible and impenetrable. He warns her to stay away from his dangerous world of flesh eaters. Unfortunately, the gorgeous and playful Luka has other plans.
When Phoenix is caught between her physical and her emotional attraction, she becomes the keeper of a deadly secret that will rock the foundations of an ancient civilization living beneath Barinkoff Academy. Phoenix doesn’t realize until it is too late that the closer she gets to both Demitri and Luka the more she is plunging them all into a centuries old feud. |

I love the wolves! That’s the first thing that gets me about these covers. Every single time!
Purple’s among my top 3 colours so I’m happy that they chose it this time around.
The model on top of the rooftop surrounded by wolves looks like she means business. The hip thing is a little odd but otherwise, thumbs up all the way! |
Undead to the World by D D Barrant November 27, 2012

Vampires, werewolves, shapeshifters, ghosts—profiler Jace Valchek thought she had seen it all. Until now…
Jace’s return to Kansas is an instant reminder that there really is no place like home. The tavern is still brimming with losers, practical jokers, and motorcycle chicks. Even the town’s only Goth is still wearing eyeliner. But just as Jace is about to click her heels and hightail out of there, she’s roped into a brand-new case. Somebody is possessed. And the bodies are piling up…
They call him the Gallowsman. According to legend, he was sentenced to hang—though his crimes still have not been specified. When he was strung up to die, his spirit stuck around waiting for people to hang themselves…so he could steal their bodies. Now, with the undead rising up and going on a rampage, Jace must put her own neck on the line. Can she get the Gallowsman to give up the ghost? |

Splintered has an amazing cover! I really don’t think I’ve seen anything more beautiful. Makes me want to buy the book right away. Too bad we have to wait *pout*
Wow, Splintered just looks so beautiful and lush! Sounds like it’ll be a great book, too. 🙂 I saw Taste during the big cover reveal, and I’m definitely curious about that book. I must read it! Thank you for sharing, Carmel. 🙂
That cover of Splintered by A. G. Howard is awesome. Whoever designed it made sure to capt our attention with that awesome hue of green (hint: green is my favourite colour!). And it kind of reminds me of my own wild curly hair and how stuff always gets stuck in it. I think I might add it to my tbr read pile for the cover alone. But we do have a while to wait for it to come out…
