New Blog Design!

Posted September 5, 2011 by Carmel in / 26 Comments

As some of you may or may not know, on top of working 5 days a week at one of Canada’s national museums I’m also a part-time Web Design student. When I first started this blog almost a year ago (I’ll be celebrating my first blogoversary in 25 days so stay tuned!!) I wasn’t sure how long my blogging obsession would last nor did I have the technical know-how to design my own template. Now that a year has come and gone I decided that it was time for a new look and I wanted it to be of my own design. I’m a bit obsessive so I’ll continue to tweak small things here and there but overall I’m thrilled with the result!

I also wanted to give a shout out to my girl Rieka and thank her for allowing my to use one of her scrap kits for my graphics. She has some really great stuff, so be sure to check out her website! Just don’t forget to ask her for permission before using any of her kits.

What do you think?

  1. I wish I took web design instead of print design. I need to go take some classes for that. =DDD

I love it. though I think your menu bar titles are too close together. should be spread out a little bit. Great job with everything. Looks really good =DDDDDDD

  2. IMHO, there’s way too much crap on the sidebar. Cut it down to the basics, maybe make pages to collect the buttons, links, and such. The new header is good, though.

@Mariya @ Mystifying Paranormal Reviews – Hindsight is 20/20! I should have taken Web Design right after high school but it wasn’t as big back then. I tweaked the menu because it did look crowded. I blame Internet Explorer cross-compatibility issues! Grr!

@LupLun – The sidebar is crowded but it’s a sacrifice I’m willing to make to promote authors and fellow book bloggers.

  4. I love the new look! As soon as I opened your page, I thought ‘oh wow!’ 🙂 It’s so much fun making your own templates…I know for me, when people tell me they like mine, I feel amazing. Great job!

  5. Looks great Carmel. As a new blogger its great to see someone build their skill level up so much in one year. I’ve undergone such a steep learning curve already.
