Waiting On Wednesday: The Gathering (1)

I’m a huge Kelley Armstrong fan and I’m ashamed to admit that I have yet to read her YA series Darkest Powers. Now that there’s another YA series starting up I better get my butt in gear before I fall too far behind! Also, her upcoming book is based in a Canadian city which is a rare occurrence in paranormal fiction. All the more reason to read this one!

Strange things are happening in Maya’s tiny Vancouver Island town. First, her friend Serena, the captain of the swim team, drowns mysteriously in the middle of a calm lake. Then, one year later, mountain lions are spotted rather frequently around Maya’s home—and her reactions to them are somewhat . . . unexpected. Her best friend, Daniel, has also been experiencing unexplainable premonitions about certain people and situations.

It doesn’t help that the new bad boy in town, Rafe, has a dangerous secret, and he’s interested in one special part of Maya’s anatomy—her paw-print birthmark.

  1. Oh dude! I cannot wait for this one either! Mine’s in the mail somewhere. Trying not to check it’s tracking progress so that way I won’t really know how long I have to wait.

That being said, I’m likely to check today or tomorrow!! 😉

  2. I read this last week and I am still none too sure how I feel about it. While I like Maya more than Chloe (from the Darkest Powers) trilogy, I think that I like the boys from the Darkest Powers more than the books in this one. And the cliffhanger ending? Oh gosh! Hope you get to read it soon!

    PS. I tweeted about this!

I’ve heard about this one, and it sounds exciting and mysterious. =) Also, I love your new header, it’s so cute! Happy reading, Carmel!

  4. This sounds like a great YA read and I haven’t read Kelley Armstrong’s work since there is so many already, but I will definitely give this a try.
