This week I’m crazy about…
Just your average boy-meets-girl, girl-kills-people story. . .
Cas Lowood has inherited an unusual vocation: He kills the dead.
So did his father before him, until his gruesome murder by a ghost he sought to kill. Now, armed with his father’s mysterious and deadly athame, Cas travels the country with his kitchen-witch mother and their spirit-sniffing cat. Together they follow legends and local lore, trying to keep up with the murderous dead—keeping pesky things like the future and friends at bay.
When they arrive in a new town in search of a ghost the locals call Anna Dressed in Blood, Cas doesn’t expect anything outside of the ordinary: move, hunt, kill. What he finds instead is a girl entangled in curses and rage, a ghost like he’s never faced before. She still wears the dress she wore on the day of her brutal murder in 1958: once white, but now stained red and dripping blood. Since her death, Anna has killed any and every person who has dared to step into the deserted Victorian she used to call home.
And she, for whatever reason, spares his life.

I want to read this so bad! First, I can’t remember the last time I read a true ghost story… well, I guess Heart Shaped Box by Joe Hill, but still, there’s just not enough ghost stories. Plus, I am in love with this cover.
Veeery cool cover. Never heard of this book, thanks for pointing it out!
Hey Carmel,
This cover is very creepy. It looks like an interesting book too.
I hadn’t seen this before. Can’t wait to check it out!
Haven’t seen this before, the cover is AMAZINNNG though!!
So glad to hear that not EVERYONE has seen this cover around the bloggosphere. I’m more than happy to spread the word! 🙂
That’s a fantastic cover. I’m not sure I’d like the book, because I’m squeamish-not because there’s anything wrong with it, but I think I’ll have to look up who designed the cover art.
I was in love with this synopsis before I ever saw the cover- and now I love the cover, too! It’s perfectly creepy and I love the blood on the black and white, too. Excellent pick. 🙂
Such a creepy and beautiful cover!!
I love this cover. It is beautiful and creepy at the same time. I am excited to read this one. Great choice!
