This week’s musing asks:

Do you prefer hardcovers, trade paperbacks (the bigger ones), or mass market paperbacks (the smaller ones)? Why?

I will have to go with mass market paperbacks. They are more affordable and I can carry one easily in my purse for when I’m on the go. Also, I don’t mind as much if they get damaged because they’re not a huge investment. However, hardcovers are better if I intend on keeping the book as a collectible because it’s written by one my favorite authors or is in a series I enjoy.

  1. I actually don’t find mass market paperbacks that much more affordable anymore. Overall, I prefer e-books (but hardcovers are nice, too, especially if you have a collection).

  2. I generally prefer mass-market paperbacks because they’re easier and not as heavy to hold as the other two types, and as they’re smaller they are easier to travel with. But I prefer hardcovers if it’s a collector’s edition series and it’s going to stay in my house and no one else is allowed to touch it.

  3. hey welcome to MM!

but I must say…I hate mass market paperbacks…lol The type is too small, the spines brake and pages come out, the print is often to close to the ‘binding’. yes, they are transportable..but that is their only plus in my eyes.

  4. I agree with you. If I can’t get it in e-book format for my nook I like the Mass Market Paperbacks. They’re just easier to carry around.
