Book Blogger Hop & Follow my Blog Friday! (#1)

Book Blogger Hop

This blogger hop was created by Jennifer at Crazy for Books. Follow my blog Friday was created by ParaJunkee’s View. My first ever blog hop! I just came across this great idea today while checking out fellow bloggers.

The blog hop lasts from October 15th-18th. Here are the rules (similar to ParaJunkee’s so I’ll only post one of the two):

  1. Enter your book blog link in the Linky List below (be sure to include how long you’ve been blogging and what genres you review!). If you post about the Hop on your blog, please link directly to your Hop post (don’t forget to answer this week’s question – see below!).
  2. Visit other blogs in the Linky List! Make new friends! Follow new book bloggers! Talk about books! Rave about authors! (Please do not leave your link and not visit other blogs – it’s just not cool and not in the spirit of the Hop!)
  3. Post about the Hop on your blog! Spread the word about the book party! The more the merrier!
  4. In your blog post, answer the following question (new question each week!):
When you read a book that you just can’t get into, do you stick it
out and keep reading or move to your next title?

If it’s a book in a series that I enjoy and there happens to be one bad apple out of the bunch I will usually truck on through. However, if it’s the first book by an author that I haven’t read before I will put it aside. Sometimes I’m just not in the mood for a particular genre but I’ll usually come back to it… eventually. Rarely will I give up all together unless it’s really really bad!
What is your reading suggestion this week?
I’m going to have to go with Prey by Rachel Vincent. Just finished it last week and I absolutely LOVED it! Best book of the series in my opinion but I’m still reading Alpha so that may change!

  1. One of the most liberating moments of my life came in my mid-twenties when I realized I didn’t have to finish every book I started. Now, I give it the old college try, but if it doesn’t capture my fancy after fifty pages or so, I ditch it.

You have a new follower now…me! If you want to return the favor, hop on over to The Book Frog.

  2. PS (Yeah, I just can’t shut up 🙂

I notice that you love werewolves in particular. Have you read Patricia Briggs’ Mercy Thompson books? Mercy, of course, is not a werewolf herself, but is, um, very close to them. For what it’s worth, here’s my review of her novel Blood Bound.

  3. Hi.

Thanks for stopping by my blog – I followed you back to yours. 🙂

I see that you are reading Alpha – I finished it last night – hope you are enjoying it. 🙂

    Have a wonderful weekend.

  4. Hi- Blog hop is a great way to get followers. you might want to try Parajunkee’s hop since she’s paranormal all the way. I think that’s it. Just click on someone that has the picture of the girl laying in the grass with her back to you. That’s her Follow Friday hop.

    Happy Friday

  5. I rarely give up… unless the book’s terrible. That’s only happened once recently. I try to finish even the bad ones so that I can give them a fair and honest review.

Just stopping by from the Hop!

thanks for hopping by my blog-I like what you said about new vs. old authors. I usually feel a loyalty to authors I’ve loved before, even though I’m not loving their latest work. I just had that problem recently with Her Fearful Symmetry.

  7. Just hopping by. Thanks for following me. I’m a follower now too!

Love the look of your blog and I absolutely LOVED Rachel Vincent’s Shifters series. You should stop by the Pride, the online discussion group where we talk about Rachel’s books both adult and YA and a LOT of other topics as well! It’s really fun!

  8. Hi, and thanks for the follow! Always good to meet a fellow lycophile. ^_^

Nice place you’ve got here. Clean and uncluttered. Too few book bloggers respect the “less is more” aesthetic.

  9. Hi sweets! A girl after my own paranormal heart…welcome to the club! Thanks so much for participating. I really look forward to reading your reviews. Can’t wait to read what you think of ALpha…I’ve yet to read the series yet but it is sitting on my shelf saying “read me read me” XOXO – Parajunkee

  10. Just hoppin’ on by <3 I'm a new follower! :)

I usually stick books out, even if it annoys me like crazy. I like giving fair chances to books, and I feel incomplete if I don’t finish it. I’ve even stuck it through an entire series I absolutely hated. Maybe it’s just me being weird.

  11. So glad to have found you via the Hop and FF. I’m your newest Follower!

I’m with you – I’ll stick with the “bad apple” in a series I love, just so I can see what happens next. Otherwise, if I’m not loving a book, I set it aside. Maybe I’ll come back to it, maybe I won’t …

  12. Happy Follow Friday!!! Hope you will stop by my blog too! My publisher and I are looking for a group of bloggers for a huge blog tour next year before the release of book two in my ‘A Sense of Truth’ series! We will be giving out a few more copies of The Thirteenth Chime (we can only give out so many, being open to e-books gives an upper hand) and are still open to all interviews and guest posts. We want to fill up the Amazon page with reviews and try to reach as many people as we can!!! Hope you might consider being a part of the team! Thank you either way!

  13. Happy HOP! Thanks for stopping by my blog and I’m also a new follower. For me it’s all about mood and timing whether I’ll finish a book or not. I don’t like forcing myself to do something that should be enjoyable. I’d rather wait and like it later, then force it and hate it now. Happy reading.

  14. Hi!

Hello!! New follower hopping by! I LOVE your blog image! Very mystical feeling!
I have trouble putting a book down once I start. I’ve been trying to teach myself that it’s ok to do that recently. Busy schedule has helped influence that too!
Hope you are having a wonderful weekend!

  16. You know, that’s where I am right now with Naomi Novik’s Temeraire series… I am TOTALLY stuck on the second book, but I LOVED the first book… but in the second one… they are *literally* on a slow boat to China, and I’m just as bored as Temeraire. ACK! I just keep putting it down, reading a little bit, and picking it back up.

    New follower here 🙂
