My name is Carmel and I am the founder, designer and main blogger behind Rabid Reads. I’m based out of Gatineau where I work full-time as an administrative assistant with the Government of Canada. I married
the love of my life in June 2014, and gave birth to the love of my life (sorry honey!) in 2016. In my spare time (when I’m not reading or blogging) I enjoy traveling, hiking, snowboarding, video games and spending time with family and friends. I also have a weakness for anything chocolate or wrapped in bacon. I completed my Webmaster certificate in 2012, and have been putting my skills to good use ever since on the blog.
I’ve been a reader since as far back as I can remember. When I was a kid my mom used to ask me to pick out a book for her to read to me before bed and I would always pick the biggest one I could find in order to prolong the experience as much as possible. Unlike most of my fellow paranormal reviewers, my love of the supernatural did not begin with Twilight but rather Anne Rice’s vampires. From there I discovered her sister, Alice Borchardt, and the book that kick-started my werewolf obsession: The Silver Wolf. Over the years my infatuation with wolves spread into other aspects of my life and culminated in 2005 when I purchased my first house and became the proud owner mother of an Alaskan Malamute / Husky named Sasha.
I enjoy mostly Urban Fantasy and Paranormal Romance but if it has a werewolf in it I’ll probably read it! A few of my favourite authors include: Kelley Armstrong, Keri Arthur, Jennifer Estep, Patricia Briggs, J.R. Ward, Jeaniene Frost and Molly Harper.
Rabid Reads came in at #25 on the Writer Awards’ top 33 list of Best Book Blog of 2017, and #58 on the Top 100 Blogs Reviewing Novels for Novel Readers and Authors. The blog was also nominated in the categories of Best Overall Blog of 2012, Most Well-Written Blog and Twitter Queen in the 2013 #BBTC awards and one of my reviews was published in Bookkaholic Magazine.
