Top 10 of 2016

Another year has come and gone which means that it’s time to participate in Two Chicks On Books, Fiktshun, Tales of a Ravenous Reader, and Dark Faerie Tales‘ annual TOP 10 OF 2016 week long meme. These posts are easy to put together and schedule during the holidays so that I can spend time with my family. My book boyfriends don’t really change from year to year, so I’ve decided to switch it up a lil by compiling some of my favourite secondary male characters instead. Enjoy!

10. Uncle Bob “Ubie” (The Curse of Tenth Grave by Darynda Jones)

If you’re not a member of Ubie’s fan club—what the heck is wrong with you!? Darynda Jones has the uncanny ability to make me LOL however, there’s a lot of really moving scenes too, and Uncle Bob is usually front-and-center in them.

09. Owen (Staked by Kevin Hearne)

This guy’s POV is a lot of fun to read, especially with Luke Daniels as the narrator of this series. I have zero interest in getting busy with the old druid, but I’ll take his surly attitude over Granuaile’s elitist nonsense ANY DAY.

08. Jonas (Winter Halo by Keri Arthur)

This dude’s still a long way from being worthy of Tig however, he’s starting to grow on me, and I do so love my shifters. Jonas has all of the makings of a good BF, he just needs another installment or two to get there.
~ My Review
07. Silvio Sanchez (Nice Guys Bite by Jennifer Estep)

Gin’s assistant is a fairly new addition to The Spider’s crew, and he comes across as a bit uptight in the full length books. I doubt he’d be interested in me because well, he’s gay. Still, I loved learning more about this character!
06. Maddock (A Flame Never Dies by Rachel Vincent)

Finn kinda steals the spotlight as far as the men of this duology are concerned, and Maddock’s romance with Nina didn’t get nearly as much attention as it deserved. Maybe Vincent will be kind to this reader, and write a novella…

05. Brendan (Blood Secrets by Elizabeth Morgan)

His devotion to Heather will melt your heart. Yes, he made her grandmother a promise, but their relationship ends up being so much more than that. I can’t WAIT for the next volume. It better not take another 2 years to publish it!
~ My Review
04. Daniel (Pack by Jeaniene Frost)

I’m cheating a little bit with this one. The eBook was released in 2015 however, the audio didn’t come out until 2016, so it kinda counts. Right? Anyway, this may be a short story, but this werewolf enforcer extraordinaire made an impression on me!
~ My Review
03. Derek (Magic Binds by Ilona Andrews)

He’s Curran & Kate’s right-hand man, and granted it’s easy to overlook him when he’s eclipsed by the giant lion, and badass chick with the sword, but I think Derek is seriously underrated which is why I’m showing him some love this year.
~ My Review
02. Ivan (Replica by Shannon Mayer, Denise Grover Swank)

I didn’t particularly care for this novel which makes the fact that it’s sitting in the number two spot all the more impressive. Ok, maybe not, because he IS a werewolf, as are the two previous gentlemen on this list.
~ My Review
01. Gabriel Walsh (Betrayals by Kelley Armstrong)

I’ve been shipping Gabe since the very beginning of this series, so I was THRILLED when things finally started going my way in this installment. Book 4 is the finale—fingers crossed that Olivia makes the right choice.
